The thing with making “all-time” lists is they tend to change over the years. Such is the case with watches, so in 2022 author Nicholas Foulkes revisited his 2014 release The Impossible Collection of Watches to update its list of the 100 most important timepieces for the modern day. New additions include the 1925 Patek Philippe Ref. 97975, the earliest known perpetual calendar wristwatch, the 2014 Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight Planétarium, and the 2022 Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather Musical Watch, which sit alongside other important watches from brands like Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Richard Mille, Rolex, and Vacheron Constantin. Filled with 150 hand-tipped images, it’s crafted by hand and arrives in a luxury rubber clamshell case with a metal plaque.
