Brioni, the world’s most prestigious menswear luxury House, was founded in Rome in 1945 by the visionary tailors Nazareno Fonticoli and Gaetano Savini. The store’s artisan tailors were dressing society’s most prestigious and powerful men, from Hollywood icons to heads of state. Sooner or later, the brand became synonymous with status, indicating the lifestyle of a distinguished gentleman. Brioni’s reputation as an industry leader was cemented in 1952 when it hosted the first-ever men’s fashion show. Brioni became the reference for Roman tailoring after presenting the innovative silhouettes at the opulent Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, eclipsing the conventional English style that had previously dominated the industry and establishing an effortless ideal of elegance that would become recognized worldwide.
“Brioni: Tailoring Legends” from Assouline, celebrates Brioni’s outstanding heritage and the evolution of men’s style through decades of sartorial traditions, with rarely seen materials and original photography of archival garments.
