North by Northwest
[ssba]

In the middle of the Cold War, on the outskirts of New York City, a bon vivant advertiser gets targeted by foreign agents, who spy him out. In no time, he realizes that he is wanted for a murder that he didn’t commit, as he crosses half of America to connect the dots. There he meets and falls in love with a beautiful, mysterious woman who takes on a double role in this case.

This stylish, three-Oscar-nominated thriller is not one of Hitchcock’s usual films, such as Silent Martyr but more in his “fandezí” films, such as “The Thief Hunt” (in both starring the incredibly elegant and charming Cary Grant). The most dominant elements involve the cosmopolitan climate and the deliberate unrealism (the villain has a luxurious base built on Mount Rushmore). Once again, Hitchcock’s unsurpassed cinematic language in his story is absolute and clear.
