Humble, resilient and strong. The Arturo Fuente family is all that and more. The story begins in 1906, when Cuban Don Fuente, a Cuban, immigrates to Key West, Florida to a colony of his peers and takes up cigar making. In 1912, at just 24 years old, he founded A. Fuente & Company. Chasing the American dream and utilizing his valuable Cuban techniques, he passes the baton to the next generations after a few years.
The book, “Arturo Fuente: Since 1912” published by Assouline, details the story of a true legacy, from the early years of its founding to the creation of the world-famous Fuente OpusX, the first commercially viable cigar grown and rolled exclusively in the Dominican Republic. Author Aaron Sigmond, an internationally recognized authority, has had a distinguished career in the cigar world, both personally and professionally, for more than 30 years. Lavishly illustrated with exclusive photographs by Ian Spanier, the book celebrates the achievements of the last three generations of the Fuente family. With contributions from actor-director Andy García and Ciro Cascella, executive president of Tabacalera A. Fuente, this volume is a tribute to cigars as a timeless passion and to the Fuente family.
