In times of liquidity does it make sense to discuss what is chic? Is it a luxury? Is it about certain elites? Whatever the meaning of this concept. Undoubtedly, being a noble gentleman is chic. The decline of values requires us to adhere to a code of good behaviour. This realization applies to our digital selves “exposed” to the internet. Having a worldly conduct on social media is a self-evident prerequisite. Especially in the age of the dominance of trolls and sub-zero “influential characters” on the internet, this attitude takes on a special significance.

Courtesy of manners has its own dynamic. Like addressing your interlocutor with respect, both in person and digitally, slowing down your car in front of pedestrians, respecting your elders and so much more. In times of massification and levelling down, it’s important to remain a gentleman, to not become cynical and indifferent, especially when at times you reflect that if, as another David Niven, you pulled to the side opening the door for a woman to pass, chances are she would not notice, would pass you by and, ignoring you, would still be watching the TikTok video on her phone screen.
