Azzedine Alaïa and Arthur Elgort shaped the 1980s together. While the fashion designer was seeing his ideal woman finally embodied on the streets and by the ever-increasing number of clients, the photographer was leaving the studios, opening the windows, making the city and its movement the new backdrop for his shoots. Both actively contributed to the renewal of the representation of a woman who was becoming more and more dynamic, determined and independent. Timeless photographs that have become important for the iconography of the designer’s fashion as well as more secret ones, are the material of the unique exhibition “AZZEDINE ALAÏA, ARTHUR ELGORT. FREEDOM”, in Paris, organized by the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa. It is a tribute to photography and fashion, the revival of which was orchestrated by Alaïa and Elgort. The exhibition creates a dialogue between 30 photographs by Arthur Elgort and original models by Azzedine Alaïa and will run until 20/08/2023.
