I met Jane in Cannes in 1984 when she co-starred in her then husband and director Jacques Doillon’s play “La Pirate”. Attractive, with that androgynous beauty that her ex-husband and mentor, Serge Gainsbourg, turned into an iconic style. Jane always gave me the feeling of being elsewhere, the feeling of a distracted woman, doing everything by accident… And yet behind it all was a strong personality who was able to coexist with a holy monster of music.
“I did everything to impress men,” Jane said. In the end, she did everything, not just to impress them.
