Directed and written by Steven Zaillian, the new eight-episode series brings to life Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” which has already been adapted twice, with “Plein Soleil” (1960) and ” The Talented Mr. Ripley” (1999).
The overarching premise of the new series is set in 1960s New York and follows the life of Tom Ripley after he is hired by a nobleman to convince his son to return to the city. But the psychological thriller begins to unravel as it specifically examines how Tom’s life becomes one of chaos, crime and murder.
“Ripley” features Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley with Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, John Malkovich, Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi and Margherita Buy.
Netflix and Steven Zaillian’s “Ripley” is set to premiere on April 4.
