Silencio New York is the latest branch of the well-known Parisian nightclub, named “Silencio Paris” designed by David Lynch, which has been operating since 2011. In the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the new compact boîte, designed by the founder of Crosby Studios, Harry Nuriev, pays homage to both Silencio Paris and Studio 54 in a sophisticated, contemporary way and with cinematic references to Lynch and his cinema.

“The original club [in Paris] has always had strong ties to American artists, from its design by director David Lynch to hosting performances by artists such as Prince, Lana del Rey and Kendrick Lamar,” says Silencio’s founder , Arnaud Frisch. “Opening up to the cultural heart of the US is an opportunity to strengthen that connection, especially now, as New York reinvents itself after the pandemic.”

The red curtains and LED light strips that outline the walls in the foreground of the club evoke a Lynchian aesthetic, while the glossy paneling of the surfaces reflects Nuriev’s style. “I was inspired by Lynch’s work, especially Twin Peaks, but I also wanted to add my own touch,” says the designer.

Visitors access Silencio New York through a discreet door on 57th Street and pathways lit by red LED light strips. It is like entering the backstage of a large theater. After all, Studio 54 was located on a re-designed Broadway stage and Silencio pays homage to it, in this dramatic & stylish way.
