Royal Review

The 1978 Land Rover Series III ‘Royal Review’ was built specifically for Queen Elizabeth II.

This particular model carries an aura of prestige and heritage that is impossible to replicate, and it’s now ready to roll into the hands of its next custodian.

The Series III, launched in 1978, is a quintessential representation of the Land Rover spirit—rugged, purposeful, and a symbol of understated British elegance. The Land Rover marque, having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2023, has always been the go-to vehicle for off-road adventurers, explorers, and those with a love for functional design.

Initially dispatched to the Central Army Vehicle Depot in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire, this 109-inch Series III received a series of military modifications, including upgrades to its dash, grille, and door hinges. However, in 1979, it underwent a complete transformation at the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) workshop in Donington, where it was converted into a ‘Royal Review’ vehicle fit for Queen Elizabeth II.
