Digital Nomads

I met Dimitris Tselios in Thessaloniki, during the difficult years of the financial crisis. He had come to attend the presentation of the book “Brand: The Strategy” (Fereniki Publications), written by his friend Michalis Nalbantis. At the time, I was impressed by his professional activity. He has been working, remotely, for Google. Ten years later, I am reading an interview he gave to the Athenian Macedonian News Agency, on the occasion of the “Athens Normal Fest” at Panteion University. There, among other things, I discovered that he has since traveled and lived as a digital nomad in 25 countries in Europe and Asia. His new business activity has a grandiose title: certified Life & Business Coach.

“Our country has several advantages (s.b.: to attract 10 of the 40 million digital nomads), such as the excellent weather, the diversity, combining mountain and sea options, the knowledge of the English language by the majority of the Greek population, as well as our hospitable attitude and our tourist culture. “Clearly, a serious strategy needs to be drawn up that will strengthen the basic infrastructure in the internet service networks by providing faster and more stable speeds, as well as providing tax incentives,” he points out.

At the time, I could not comprehend the dimensions of the new work perspective, which, had I adopted it, would have changed my life and freed me from the storm of bad checks that accumulated in our publishing house. Today, while I continue doing it by writing from everywhere, I can feel his words: “Having the choice to work from anywhere, and to do it whenever you want, for me is Freedom”.
