A well-tied tie is the first serious step in life”, Oscar Wilde once said.

The new issue of MANCODE is Bespoke. We visit the House of Charvet, the “headquarters” of sur mesure, in the heart of Paris, on Place Vendôme. Here, important world figures have been “sewn” since the 19th century and we learn the reason behind this.

We travel to the Congo, where the Sapeurs have transformed fashion into a form of art and self-expression.

We learn the story of the “founder” of Savile Row, Henry Poole, who has set the standard for bespoke menswear since 1806.

We cross the Atlantic and find ourselves in New York, the metropolis in constant motion, where you can see window displays of artwork, buildings transformed into luxury handbags and electric cars, where you can look up and feel man’s effort to reach God.

We complete the journey on British roads, where Jeremy Clarkson recalls that the first car he crashed, 36 hours after getting his license, was his mother’s Audi, who was not at all worried about the condition of the car. She would certainly have thought about it if it had cost her 169,000 euros, as much as the Audi RS 6 Avant performance, which leads to this issue that is published with KATHIMERINI newspaper on Sunday, December 1st.
