A play of cubic volumes

Inspired by Greek isles architecture, Villa Cardo has low-rise and climbable all-white walls overlooking olive and almond trees in Carovigno, Puglia, Italy. Designed by Barcelona-based architecture studio Studio Andrew Trotter, it looks like a small castle due to its intimate and small scale with a play of cubic volumes. A large open swimming pool in front of the house marks the building and creates its own entryway. With the Pugliese vernacular style, the house has been built with local materials and using traditional building methods to ensure its own climatic conditions such as keeping the building light, airy and cool in the summer.
