An oasis into the desert

The “dynamism of desert movement” was the thinking behind the construction of this impressive new hotel in the Todos Santos region of Mexico. Distinguished by its undulating exterior, the ‘Paradero Hotel’ sits on a sprawling stretch of land between a farm and the Sierra Laguna Mountains on the southwest coast of the Baja Peninsula.

The design duo, Ruben Valdez and Yashar Yektajo, drew inspiration from the “sandy” landscape of the area, which is shaped according to the force of the wind and the season. Thus, observing the hotel, you will distinguish a series of wavy concrete structures in a sandy tone that harmonizes with the ground on which it “sits”. At the same time, palm trees, cacti and many other trees and plants found in the area were placed in order to offer visitors an authentic experience of the desert flora. Whereas, the paths have been constructed with sand to encourage visitors to walk barefoot.

Finally, at the hotel you will find suites with desert views, hammocks to enjoy the stars at night and outdoor fireplaces. Also available for rent is a separate villa, which is a three-level residence that includes its own plunge pool.
