Built in a space formerly occupied by the tiny Quiet Man pub, is Paris’ latest hotspot, Bar Nouveau. Long before its much-anticipated opening, this small bar grabbed everyone’s attention thanks to its art nouveau concept and the world-renowned driving force behind it, Remy Savage. Stepping into Bar Nouveau is a bit like stepping back in time where the charm of the past meets the elegance of modern craft cocktails.
The charm of Bar Nouveau is revealed in levels, literally: The main floor bears large front windows, white & gray marble counters and lots of light. Although the space is small, it looks bigger thanks to the striking speckled mirrors on the walls and ceiling. No detail escapes their homage to the movement, including the glass lamps inspired by the Tappio Wirkkala vase of the 1950s which, modeled on the shape of the chanterelle mushroom, evokes the art nouveau of incorporating nature into everyday life.
The downstairs stands in stark contrast to the glitzy matching vibe of the upstairs. It’s dark with black lights and light brick and a menu that twists and turns the cocktails from the upstairs menu.
Bar Nouveau was the brainchild of Remy Savage, a name well known in the realm of innovative cocktails and concepts. But the project wouldn’t be complete without co-founders Sara and Hadrien Moudoulaud, both with impressive credentials having worked at Little Red Door and le Syndicat, as well as Marc Puzzuoli.
Although Bar Nouveau doesn’t take reservations, the good news is that it opens its doors at 4pm, providing the perfect excuse to start your night early and secure a stool in this lovely venue.
