John Lobb’s story begins with a journey: A trip from Cornwall to London, entirely on foot, by the founder. He would go on to be the boutique maker to the Prince of Wales and so opened his first boutique in Regent Street in 1866.
Now, 150 years later, John Lobb’s journey continues with the opening of a store in New York City, calling 700 Madison Avenue his lastest home (previously it was on the exact same street). The New York flagship echoes the shoemaker’s effortlessly elegant signature, and continues the expansion of the store’s new concept, which has already transformed flagship stores in Paris and Beverly Hills.
Walnut wood and matte metal are used throughout, finished with shelves and wall hangers inspired by the work of artist Gonzalo Fonseca and sofas by French designer Christophe Delcourt.
Upon entry, concierges welcome those looking to repair or restore a pair of favorite shoes, while customers looking to get creative and make unique shoes can be inspired by a variety of designs, with leather samples, color palettes, soles and various metals.
To celebrate the opening of the flagship, John Lobb released a boot exclusively for the New York store – the ‘Peak’.
