Guglielmo Miani Sr. starts his tailoring business in Milan in 1922. Creativity and determination soon allow him to emerge and dress artists, literati, politicians and businessmen. Among many of the famous customers were Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Totò, Fausto Coppi, Walter Chiari, Gino Bramieri and Giuseppe Capogrossi, to name but a few. In 1936, the company experienced exponential growth when it began producing raincoats, along with custom made suits. The logo sewn into every Larusmiani garment is the seagull, Larus in Latin, chosen for its waterproof plumage and the values of freedom and independence it embodies.
Between 1939 and 1958, Guglielmo Miani opens four Larus Boutiques in the center of Milan, among which, in 1954, the Concept Boutique in Via MonteNapoleone. In the 50s, the textile trade begins to develop. In addition to his tailoring, Mr. Miani begins to import fine fabrics from Great Britain and is the first to import into Italy the famous Vicuna, the most valuable fabric in the world. Guglielmo Miani was not only an excellent tailor and visionary businessman, but also a patron & philanthropist, in love with Milan.
In 2015 Larusmiani brought the expertise and collection of Aldo Lorenzi from the legendary boutique at Via MonteNapoleone 9 to its own boutique. The collection includes everything from knives and tableware to lighters, toiletries and shaving kits, and grows every year thanks to Larusmiani’s ongoing research and the jealously guarded craftsmen of Aldo Lorenzi who now work for Larusmiani.
In 2022, Larusmiani celebrated 100 years of experience, looking back at the success of three generations that have been the pillars of the Company. Today, the brand represents the real Made in Italy and protects traditional traditions, always looking ahead to a series of new, contemporary trends.
