Pop Forever

Fondation Louis Vuitton celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a new exhibition, Pop Forever, Tom Wesselmann &…, running through February 24, 2025. The show is all about Pop Art, paying homage to one of the most influential art movements of the 1960s through the lens of Tom Wesselmann who is a key figure of the era.

The exhibition features 150 works by Wesselmann, alongside 70 pieces from 35 artists, spanning generations and nationalities, all linked by a shared “Pop” sensibility. Artists like Derrick Adams, Ai Weiwei, KAWS, and Yayoi Kusama are included in the monumental presentation. Altogether, the show traces Pop Art’s journey from its Dadaist roots to more contemporary expressions.

Guest curators Dieter Buchhart and Anna Karina Hofbauer emphasize that this isn’t just a retrospective. It recontextualizes Wesselmann’s work while offering fresh perspectives on the evolution of Pop Art. Wesselmann’s iconic works, including his “Great American Nudes” and “Standing Still Lifes,” are presented alongside his contemporaries, linking the past and present of those within the Pop Art movement’s orbit.
