In Oaxaca of Mexico, the architectural firm Espacio 18 Arguitectura created La Casa del Sapo. Α home that harmonizes with the surrounding natural environment. The office has drawn inspiration from the author Henry David Thoreau, who spent two years, two months, and two days living by Lake Walden Pond, Massachusetts. A kind of experience that taught him what is worthy in life.
The idea behind was to create a gathering and inclusive space, where anyone could find what he was looking for. It is a family home that offers security, a shelter you can relax and enjoy the sea but also a place where friends and family are invited for food and drinks.
The two stone volumes facing the sea, are the point of reference in the design of the house. The first one offers residents the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent view of the sunrise, and the other one for the sun to go down. Between the two volumes, there is a gap that leads to the sea and the coast of Oaxaca.
