On the southwestern side of Puglia, amidst five acres of olive groves and vineyards, rises imposingly a historic Palazzo dating back to the 18th century offering a blend of old world charm and modern comforts, having undergone a meticulous renovation to preserve its aristocratic aura. When you first arrive at the Casino Doxi Stracca estate you will immediately realise that you are entering a haven of privilege, prestige and absolute privacy. The estate consists of three structures: a Palazzo, the centre of agricultural operations on the estate and a beautiful baroque chapel overlooking the courtyard pool. Originally dedicated to San Rocco, it is now a common area for entertaining and dining, housing a large breakfast room and kitchen. Inside, one finds varied arches in the design, modern lighting and 10th and 11th century Islamic vases. Upstairs there are four bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and antique doors. Each has a distinct character, but all have modern four-post beds, furniture and carpets from another era and access to various balconies and terraces. The baroque town of Alezio with its restaurants, market and shops is a 20-minute walk away, while the fortified town of Gallipoli is also within walking distance and with access to a long and beautiful coastline with many sandy beaches.
