In the Xaaga Valley (Valley of Silence), an hour away from the city of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, we find Casa Silencio, a boutique hotel that combines spirits and luxury hospitality in the same space. Situated on nine lowland acres filled with agaves, it is home to a distillery for the handcrafted Mezcal El Silencio brand, a sustainable mezcal made with revived ancient production methods. The hotel is inspired by whisky houses in the Scottish Highlands , hotels with vineyards in Napa, California and Spain. It is a highly aesthetic result of the collaboration between award-winning Mexican architect Alejandro D’Acosta and the founders of Mezcal El Silencio, Vicente Cisneros and Fausto Zapata.
