The “Goddesses” by Terry O’Neill

by Marianina Patsa

Dice rolling on Brigitte Bardot’s hair, Raquel Welch’s face, Ursula Andress’s legs… The “goddesses” photographed over the years by the iconic British photographer Terry O’Neill are printed on an impressive backgammon, which is probably a pure distraction for opponents – assuming one wants to play on it, rather than endlessly poking at it.

Designer Alexandra Llewellyn and O’Neill, known for his spontaneous shots of major celebrities (from the Rolling Stones and the Beatles to the Royal Family), searched through the photographer’s extraordinary archive spanning five decades to choose images for this collectible.

The Goddesses Backgammon Set is handcrafted, filled with images of timeless beauties such as Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy. It comes in a limited edition of 20 copies and each piece is numbered and signed by the photographer. Dice shakers are engraved with O’Neill’s fingerprint. The sequins are made of Mother of Pearl (the material that covers the natural pearl) and red stone, all set with brass. Never before has a game of backgammon looked more sensual and luxurious…
