The new miniseries The Narrow Road to the Deep North, based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize-winning novel, has premiered on Amazon Prime Video and is already standing out for its emotional depth and powerful portrayal of war and memory.
The story follows Australian doctor Dorrigo Evans (played by Jacob Elordi and Ciarán Hinds), who becomes a prisoner of war during WWII and is forced to work on the infamous “Death Railway” (Burma Railway) under brutal conditions. At the same time, the series explores a haunting, forbidden love that shadows him for decades.
Directed by Justin Kurzel and featuring strong performances by Odessa Young, Olivia DeJonge, and Simon Baker, the show masterfully blends poetry, violence, and emotion.
With just five episodes and glowing reviews (100% on Rotten Tomatoes), it is a gripping tale of survival, love, and guilt that leaves a lasting impression.
