Some photographers are making art. I do not belong to them … I’m just a hired performer, “Helmut Newton said shortly before picking up the camera to photograph the most beautiful women of his time. Helmut Newton loved to speak everywhere about his father’s belief that one day “Helmut will end up in a ditch because his mind is permanently stuck to girls and photos.” Parental failures for a boy who started in Berlin to become the most famous photographer of his time. He was the most obsessive photographer with the female body, a lover of bright and robust. Everyone tried to copy him, all women wanted to be photographed in front of his lens.

This book is not just unique because you will come across many of the photographers’ works gathered but because it is a collaboration with his wife who was known to the public with the alias Alice Springs. The collection is set in five sections, alternating Newton’s look in his inner world, which he describes as “Us” and the glamorous and social encounters of the couple whom they present as “Them”.

On Us, portraits of the couple are portrayed, images that have not been seen again.
